Day 8

Meal #1 8:15am
Soup!

Comments:
I've been up for an hour and have already had a bunch of water. Not feeling great yet, but a marked improvement from yesterday.

Snack #1 10am
Smoothie

Comments:
I'm going to go for a walk after I drink this. The smoothie is way too freaking cold, but hopefully the sun will stick around outside and I'll warm up soon.

Meal #2 1:15pm
Leftover pork chops and sirloin
steamed carrots and broccoli

Comments:
I walked five miles. Soo hungry.

Snack #2 2:30pm
Banana and almond butter sandwiches

Comments:
I lost a challenge. This was the only way I could redeem myself.

Meal #3 6:30
Burger with avocado and carrots on lettuce
1/2 red pepper

Comments:
I keep managing to not eat in the late afternoon. I need to keep an eye on that.

Snack #3 9pm
Greek yogurt (3.5oz) with 1/2 an apple, sliced and drizzled with honey

Comments:
So. This snack goes against everything I've been saying about dairy and fruits. But with good reason! Many reasons actually. It started yesterday morning, when I read an article on Fooducate about Greek yogurt. I'm not a fan of any yogurt. I've had Greek yogurt once. It was disgusting. I had even said aloud, "Wow, if the date wasn't printed right here, I'd be convinced this was spoiled." So I swore off Greek yogurt, even though I had really wanted to like it. That was many months ago. That might have even been before I started eating so healthy. Anyway, so I read the article and I thought maybe I'd try it again, despite my no dairy thing this month.

Another deciding factor is that I got some advice yesterday about not eliminating some foods from my diet. During the tenure of our friendship, this person has yet to be wrong in his advice, so when he speaks, I listen. I did some research of my own and have decided that, while I'm still going to limit my dairy intake, there are some things I probably shouldn't give up completely. I am glad though that I didn't have any dairy for a week. I think that was good for me. More on that in another post.

What ultimately changed my mind today about dairy though is the fact that it's Rosh Hashanah and I wanted an excuse to eat apples and honey. After all my honey intake yesterday and the day before, and the fact that I decided to limit my fruit intake, this was a good way to blend it all together. Three wrongs make a right today.

I should also mention how right it was because this snack was so freaking delicious. There's really no way I'm going to give up Greek yogurt now. From now on, I probably won't even put honey on it unless I want a sweet treat. The plain yogurt was great as is.

EotD Comments:
Despite all of the hot water I drank for two days, now that I'm feeling better and more active, I'm thirstier than ever. Actually, I should amend that. I'm not thirsty per se. The problem is that my mouth and my throat are ridiculously dry. I can barely swallow. So I've been drinking plain water nonstop all day. I ran to the store earlier and drank three bottles of water while I was out. It's insane how much I've had to drink today.

I do feel better tonight. I'm actually itching to start working out again. I don't want to push it though. I'm going to go to sleep early tonight and then hopefully tomorrow I'll be good to go.
